Ubik runs on your machine and never contacts us. This page is mostly about the website, because the software has nothing to disclose.
Who we are
Ubik is a product of SIA Wyrd, a company registered in Latvia (European Union). The website runs on a single virtual machine at UpCloud in Frankfurt, Germany (EU).
Contact: hello@getubik.dev.
The software collects nothing
The Ubik engine has no telemetry, no usage reporting, and no crash reporting. It never opens a connection to us, at any point, for any reason. There is no license server: the license check reads a file and verifies a signature offline, with no network access. Nothing about your queries, your data, your schemas, your brokers, or your machine ever reaches us.
This is verifiable rather than promised. Run Ubik on a machine with no route to the internet and it behaves identically, licensed or not. The only outbound connections it makes are the ones you configure yourself: your Kafka brokers, your sinks, and a Confluent Schema Registry if you point it at one.
If opt-in diagnostics are ever offered to licensed customers, they will be off by default and require explicit consent, and they will never be used to check or enforce licensing.
What the website collects
Website analytics run on Umami, which we host ourselves on our own infrastructure. It is cookieless and collects aggregate page views, referrers, and coarse country-level location. It sets no tracking cookies, uses no third-party analytics service, and does not build a profile of you across sites.
If you submit your email address to request access or to join the Ubik Cloud waitlist, we store that address, and nothing else, in listmonk, which also runs on our own machine. We use it to contact you about Ubik. We do not sell it, share it, or pass it to an email marketing provider.
Cookies
The website sets no tracking cookies, no analytics cookies, and no advertising cookies.
Third parties
UpCloud hosts the virtual machine the website runs on, acting as our infrastructure provider. Analytics and the mailing list are self-hosted on that same machine, so no separate analytics or email vendor receives your data.
Nothing is billed today. When commercial licensing opens, payment will run through Paddle, which acts as merchant of record: Paddle sells the licence to you, collects payment, and handles VAT and sales tax. Your billing details go to Paddle under their own privacy terms, not to us. We receive the record of the purchase, the organization it is for, and the tier bought, which is what we need to issue your licence key.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to our processing of it. In practice the only personal data we are likely to hold is an email address, and any licensing records if you are a customer. Write to hello@getubik.dev and we will act on it.
Every mailing list message carries an unsubscribe link, which removes you from the list immediately. Messages about a licence you bought, such as delivering your key or telling you it is about to expire, are part of the service rather than marketing, so they are sent for as long as the licence is live.
Retention
We keep your email address until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. Analytics data is aggregate and carries no identifier that points back to you. Licensing records are kept for as long as the law requires us to keep accounting records.
Changes
If this page changes materially, the date at the top changes with it. The terms cover the licensing side.
